Little Legends School operates from Monday – Friday, we follow a 5 day week program which is as follows:

Rules and Regulations

Parents should inform the school as soon as there is a change of address of parents or pupils as well as phone numbers.

Hair should be natural and worn short. Artificial hair, chemically treated hair, eccentric hairdo or haircuts, high heels, bangles, dangling earrings, chains and other ornaments are not part of the prescribed school uniform and must not be worn to school. A pupil who does not conform to these rules is asked to withdraw from school.

Vaccinations

Children are required to have valid certificates of vaccination against smallpox, diphtheria, whooping cough, tetanus, measles, poliomyelitis, and tuberculosis.

Infections/contagious Diseases

Parents are to notify the school immediately if it becomes known that a child has or has been in contact with any infectious / contagious disease. When a pupil has a cough, cold, or another infectious disease, that pupil should be kept away from school until he/she is completely recovered. This is to prevent the spread of infection to other pupils. When a pupil has suffered from any infectious/contagious disease, that pupil must come back to school with medical confirmation that he/she is fully recovered and is not likely to spread the infection to other children in the school.

Our belief in self-discipline as the key to success in adult life, inspires our mission to instill self-discipline into both the morals and academic areas of a pupil’s life right from the first day he/she enters the school. The school trains its pupils to be well-mannered not only in speech but in their every action.

The Values of honesty, integrity, punctuality, hard work, performance, maturity, respect for self and others, the highest Christian values that make a good citizen are those encouraged in our pupils. Pupils who exhibit gross misconduct are asked to withdraw after the first warning.

In addition to a good academic performance, pupils are required to attend school a number of times to earn promotion. It is therefore expected that every pupil will attend school regularly each term, except where permission has been sought and granted beforehand.

If a pupil is absent from school without a valid reason and without informing the school in writing, he/she forfeits their place and is considered withdrawn after ten days. Pupils who do not write terminal exams are also considered withdrawn. Any pupil who leaves the school premises, and skips classes without permission will be disciplined. The school reserves the right to dismiss at any time, a pupil whose conduct is considered to be injurious to the institution.

Pupils may be given corporal punishment for certain moral offences. This category of pupils are those who are violent, those who deliberately inflict bodily harm on others. Seniors/Juniors who bully weaker pupils may also face suspension or dismissal.

The school expects its pupils to work towards excellence in academic and moral attainments. Pupils who repeat any class twice, after the second time are dismissed.

Pupils are led through activities to foster:

The ability to gather information independently

The ability to use logical reasoning to arrive at answers to questions

The ability to express clearly in oral, written, or other concrete forms

Pupils acquired these qualities through:

  • Written work
  • Class Work
  • Home work
  • Test /Assessment
  • Projects (Individual/Group)
  • Excursions
  • Clubs

The school believes in the maxim, “Practice makes perfect.” Class work, the first learning post, is considered a very important activity for all pupils. Regular practice at class work makes even the weakest pupil a good performer in his/her academic career.

Pupils are given homework to help them consolidate what they have learnt in class, so it is important that homework should be the child’s own work. Parents are expected to see to it that homework is completed by pupils, is neat, signed by parents and returned to the school promptly for marking. A pupil may be suspended for habitual refusal to complete homework.

By the end of each academic year parents are asked to purchase pupils text books and exercise books for the new academic year. Pupils who do not have ready their course text exercise books by the second week of the academic year are considered not ready and may forfeit their place in the school.

Open days are specific days set aside for pupils’ parents to visit the school for the purpose of inspecting their children’s work. Parents are respectfully asked to use this opportunity to discuss with teachers, aspects of their children’s work on which they want clarification. If neither parents or a guardian can attend, an adult with a written note is acceptable as a stand-in,

The school expects parents to cooperate fully with the school authorities to demonstrate oneness and respect in the eyes of the pupils, this is a necessary contribution to the child’s motivation, contribution and happiness. Verbal abuse, physical abuse or any other inappropriate aggressive misconduct from parent/pupils towards staff or any member of management will be taken up legally.

Pupils from Kindergarten two and class six will write an assessment exam to determine their readiness for the next level of education. Promotion is not automatic.

Pupils of Kindergarten two and J.H.S three have a graduation ceremony at the end of their educational period for their level annually.
